Do you have 'CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1' set on your server?
If not, the design of new databases will default to ODS43.
Honestly, i have never done this - I always upgrade my ODS to the latest, so I've never run into this issue. I'm wondering if maybe there's a bug in the HTTP server at 8.5, and they didn't take the .n85 into account?
Try setting 'CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1' in the Notes.INI, create an .nsf copy of the database, see what the ODS is, then if you don't want 'CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1' set, set it back to '0'.
